Swing Dance Experience
a summary of my experience in swing dancing
Summary
- Started swing dancing in January 2000
- Attended events in many countries, including Canada, USA, France, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Germany
- Teacher, organizer, performer, DJ, and a lead influence in the swing scene in Waterloo Ontario since 2006
- Experience teaching in other scenes such as Indianapolis
Experience
- Dancing since 2000 in various styles, including lindy hop, charleston, balboa, and blues
- President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Swing Dance Society
- Co-founder, director, and head instructor of the Waterloo Swing Crew performance troupe
- Teaching in various settings including progressive lessons, performance rehearsals, workshop classes, private lessons, drop-ins, and public demonstrations
- Out-of-scene teaching including Indianapolis, Buffalo, and Munich
- Development of body movement through martials arts including aikido, which focuses on balance, grounding, and weight transfer
- Non-dance teaching experience, including two years of university-level teaching and completion of the 1-year Certificate in University Teaching program at the University of Waterloo (see the teaching section for additional information on teaching experience)
